About this speaker
Dr. Jakob Wachsmuth, studied mathematics at the University of Bonn. From 2006 to 2010, he was a research associate at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Tübingen, where he earned his doctorate in mathematical physics in 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefan Teufel. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as a research associate in the Department of Technology Design and Technology Development at the University of Bremen and as a project manager at artec | Research Center for Sustainability. From 2014 to 2015, he was Managing Director of the Smart Grids Platform Baden-Württemberg.
Since May 2015, he has been a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) in the Energy Policy and Energy Markets division, and since September 2024, he has served as Head of the Renewable Energies Business Unit.
His main areas of work include:
- Evaluation of climate policy goals and instruments
- Design of funding mechanisms, in particular the EU Innovation Fund
- Analysis and development of energy system scenarios and transformation pathways
- Ramp-up of the hydrogen market and transformation of gas infrastructures
